Oaxacan clay pottery is born from fire. Beware rapid drastic changes in temperature with your pottery. It is best to soak your pottery for at least 12 hours before each introduction to heat to reintroduce moisture into the clay and avoid cracking.
We recommend you strengthen your pottery from time to time. Simply rub with olive oil after soaking and place in a medium-low oven (300F) for 60 minutes. Cool before use. This is a recommended alternative to method above, as well as an added step in ensuring the longevity of all ceramic pieces.
Oaxacan clay pottery needs to be hand washed and dried well after each use.
